Founder and Principal

Philip Weissman is the founder and principal of Philip R. Weissman, PLLC.  He is also the Co-Chair of the New York City Bar Aviation and Space Law Committee, on the Leadership Board of the International Bar Association Aviation Committee, the Founder of Advanced Air Mobility Professionals, and on the Advisory Board of Advanced Air Mobility Institute.

Philip has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Aviation Law from 2020 to 2023 and is seen as a thought leader in the field of emerging aviation technology, including advanced air mobility and unmanned aircraft.  Philip has published articles and presented on the Montreal and Warsaw Convention, personal jurisdiction, federal preemption, drones (UAS), advanced air mobility (AAM), sustainability, consumer protection, and air carrier ownership regulations.

Prior to starting the firm, Philip had over a decade of experience as an aviation attorney at a large law firm’s global aviation practice.  He has extensive experience in representing large air carriers in federal and start court litigation as well as experience in air carrier ownership requirements, preemption, US DOT consumer protection, international aviation, licensing, certification, and airport use and service agreements. 

Philip decided to start Philip R. Weissman PLLC recognizing the need for cost-efficient and forward-thinking legal services in the field of aviation
